Terms and Conditions

PLEASE READ BEFORE TAKING OUT OUR SERVICES. GOING AHEAD IMPLIES UNDERSTANDING AND AGREEMENT TO ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

The Oxford Editors provides literary services to you, subject to the following Terms of Use, which may occasionally be updated by us without notice to you. You agree that each use of the website or our services is subject to the current Terms of Use, including any modifications or amendments. In addition, when using this website, you shall be subject to any posted guidelines or rules applicable to such services, which may occasionally be posted on the site.

Acceptance of Terms

This page tells you the terms of use on which you may make use of our website www.theoxfordeditors.co.uk and our services. Please read these terms carefully before you take out any of our services. By using our site, you indicate that you accept these terms and that you agree to abide by them.

Services

The Oxford Editors provides a rich collection of services for writers. Taking out any of these services is an agreement to these Terms and Conditions.

Applicable Law

This site is created and controlled by The Oxford Editors in the United Kingdom. The English courts will have jurisdiction over any claim arising from, or related to, a visit to our site or using our services although we retain the right to bring proceedings against you for breach of these conditions in your country of residence or any other relevant country. These terms of use are governed by English law. We reserve the right to make changes to our site and these disclaimers, terms, and conditions at any time.

Intellectual Property Rights

We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights of items and advice on our site, and in the material published on it or any written work in the form of assessments or reviews provided by our editors. They provide advice for your personal use and not for wider publication in any way. All such rights are reserved.

You may print off one copy, and may download extracts, of any page(s) from our site for your personal reference and you may draw the attention of others to material posted on our site.

Our status as the authors of material on our site must always be acknowledged.

You must not use any part of the materials on our site for commercial purposes without obtaining our formal written consent. These conditions also apply to any work such as advice in a report that we produce for you. The contents of the reports are for your use but the copyright remains the property of The Oxford Editors and cannot be reproduced in any way or form in any public forum. If you use our ghost writing service we agree to your use and publication of the work unless otherwise negotiated.

If you print off, copy or download any part of our site in breach of these terms of use, your right to use our site will cease immediately and you must, at our option, return or destroy any copies of the materials you have made.

Copyright and intellectual property of works sent to us for any of our services remains with the author.

Disclaimer

The Oxford Editors cannot guarantee your future results and/or success. As with anything, results will depend on your individual ability to carry out any advice we give. The publishing market is very difficult and we cannot give any guarantees that you will find a publisher or agent after using our services. We have had many successes, but the testimonials on our website are in no way an indication of a guarantee of the success you might expect after using our services.

Acceptance Policy

All authors are welcome and we rarely turn anyone away, but we reserve the right to reject any work without giving reasons. We will not work on books promoting racial, religious or life-style hatred or that contains incitement to hatred of any group. If we reject your book, we will offer a full refund. All refunds have to be agreed by our editors’ meeting.

Payment

Payment is required up-front before any work is undertaken. In some cases we can agree a payment plan, so please ask.

Once you place an order for copy editing, editing, proofreading, ghostwriting, manuscript assessment or any other services we provide, this is considered final and refunds cannot be given. We usually either start work on manuscripts immediately or book in the time with editors who then reject any other clients for those slots. Due to the exhaustive nature of the work, we may occasionally need to make an extra charge for any reasonable changes, but this is very rare.

You cannot cancel your order for editing, proof reading, mentoring, ghost writing or manuscript assessments once payment has been made and work started.

Refunds & Cancellations

Due to  the international nature of the company and clients in the past not paying outstanding fees, and also to the increase in money laundering activities by international gangs we cannot offer refunds. We do have a editorial board that will consider all disputes. Our editors give you their best opinion based on years of experience.

At our discretion, from time to time, we may offer products at discounted prices. These offers are valid from the time that we introduce them to the end date of the offer only.

Discounts

If you accept a discount on the grounds that you are taking out more than one service and paying together, no part of the service can be cancelled at a later stage and refunds will not be issued.

Refunds cannot be given after the work has been started.

Reports remain the copyright of The Oxford Editors and no part can be published or reproduced in a public forum without the express agreement of The Oxford Editors.

Although copy editing covers the majority of spelling and grammar issues in a manuscript we advise all clients who wish to publish their books independently to have the manuscript copy edited and then proofread.

Delivery & Shipping Policy

We pride ourselves on our efficiency and customer satisfaction.

If you have sent a manuscript to us via email, it will be returned to you via email. If you have sent a manuscript to us via postal delivery, it will be returned in the same manner. We will also send a confirmatory email, or give you a call, to inform you we have received or sent your work.

We try to deliver services such as proof reading, editing and manuscript assessments as quickly as we can without compromising on quality. Some jobs will be quite quick while others will be more complex and take longer. We never rush a book, and sometimes a manuscript has to be left to settle before the work is completed. Refunds cannot be given on the grounds of the length of time it has taken to produce the work. We will always try and keep you informed of the progress.

Where speed is important, we offer an express service for editing, proof reading and manuscript assessment that guarantees completion of work within 21 days. There is an additional fee for this fast-track service. Please see our Fees page for full details.

Please be aware that all other times are estimated and some manuscripts can take longer than others. We will not know just how much work is needed until the work is carried out.

Customer Information

To ensure that we can contact you at all times in case of problems and so that your manuscript does not get confused with books with similar titles, it is very important that you provide accurate personal information that is written on the manuscript.

Please remember that we value your privacy and will never share your private information with anyone outside The Oxford Editors. That is unless you ask us to send your work to an agent or publisher on your behalf. Such requests have to be made in writing.

We ask for the following personal information to be included on your manuscript:

Your email address, full name and address, and telephone numbers.
